Senior Associate Banking Risk Management
Biography
Tendai holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Mathematics with Distinction from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and a Masters’ degree in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University (UK).
He has experience in modelling various types of risk such as operational and credit risk for various banks and microfinances. He has also been influential in the development of credit scorecards incorporating various sources of data such as internal data and external credit ratings’ agencies data. He has been one of the lead credit risk model development specialists having assisted in the development and validation of IFRS 9 credit risk models for institutions such as FBC Holdings, CBZ Holdings, Fidelity Printers and Refineries, Zimnat Micro-finance and First Mutual Holdings in Zimbabwe He has also been involved in the development of risk management frameworks for various institutions.
Tendai also has experience carrying out IFRS 4 actuarial valuations for local and regional insurance companies such as Cell Insurance, NicozDiamond Insurance, First Mutual Reinsurance, FBC Insurance, ZB Reinsurance, Mozre (Mozambique), Emeritus Re (Botswana) Waica Re and FBN (Nigeria). He has also been involved in the peer review of IFRS 4 Valuations for insurers such as Allied Insurance, Grand Re, Hamilton Insurance, Sanctuary Insurance and Clarion Insurance. Tendai has also been actively involved in the pricing of insurance products and carrying out capital modelling for general insurers. He has also carried out training as part of the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC) and Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) Training Workshop where he presented on the pricing of insurance products in order to improve underwriting techniques to Zimbabwean insurers and representatives of other developing countries.
